We ended up getting the tractor mostly back together this evening and then we got it to move finally. To put a load on the engine (bog it down a little) we drove around in road gear at 3/4 throttle (not the tach doesn't work) and had the brakes on for 20 minutes (it was a load, but defiantly not like plowing. Tomorrow we might tow the truck around with the brakes engaged a little to help. So far, we've driven the tractor around for 20 minutes. The valves need to be adjusted since they warmed up.

First move at 7:30.

I would say between 50 and 300 hours before it is fully run in.

We used to try and get at least 100 hours on tractors we were using for
demonstrations from new. Always like to get them into ploughing or heavy cultivating
work from the start, keeping them loaded but not over revving and changing the oil.
Tractors that were not run in by working them nearly always gave engine problems
like glazing bores and blowing by the pistons.

Time on a dynamometer, if possible, would be well spent rather than just running
around, that would get the engine up to working temperature and the load could be
controlled.

Agree with Bern, they are excellent brakes on that model but you do not want to be
replacing them through mis use.
