Discovered the spring for the governor is broken. It is listed on the New Holland site as part number C5NE12B463A and the clip as part number C0NN9A793A. The dealership says it's no longer available and I can't find one here on Yesterday's part list.
Has anyone needed to replace there's or can offer any suggestions?

I didn't see the one on ebay but just a heads up.
There is an early style governor cover and late style. Early style has two arms on it, late style has one arm. His 65 should be the early one.
If he buys a different cover make sure he gets the early one. The bell crank on the intake manifold is different between them and the length of one of the throttle rods is different. Cant remember which it is now? the one from the throttle handle to the bell crank? or from the bell crank to the governor arm?
If he gets the correct bell crank and rod with a new style cover then it is a direct, bolt on swap.
Then any 2,3'4000 or 26,36,4600 governor will work.
I spent half a day screwing around once - either lengthening one of those rods or shortening it and doing some modifying to the bell crank when I put a newer engine in an older tractor.

thanks folks, governor and engine are at a engine shop so have to wait to see what style I have.

Hey, I've got the same tractor, and I'm about to go into the governor to see what's up:

Did you have to take off the radiator to get the Gov. cover off?
...and drain the oil, I guess???

I know it's been a while. Thanks for any suggestions!
