Tapping bolt holes on a Ford 6610 injection pump

Anyone know if you could tap the other 3 holes that hold on the injection pump to the gear? The timing is off to the point the other 3 holes out probably make it run. Im just getting a bunch of smoke.

Im pretty sure that it is

Leave the pump hub alone, and make sure the DRIVE GEAR is in right. With the engine set at 23 degrees BTDC and number FOUR cylinder rocker arms moving is where the pump
marks should align when gear is installed to fire number ONE cylinder. Four bolt pump hubs CAN be installed 180 off due to the evenly spaced hub holes. Three bolt hub
pumps CAN'T be 180 off UNLESS the drive gear is in wrong. If I recall Ford used the same pump gear for three, four, and six cylinder engines with a different gear mark
for each engine. IH Neuss German engines did the same thing.

I think we had the flywheel mark at 16 or 18 btdc (the marks on the flywheel. Ill get a picture tomorrow. Does anyone know what the second mark on the injection pump gear is for?

Wouldnt it be much simpler and less stressful to pay someone who knows what they are doing to install this pump and make it run
right?? Most guys worth their salt will not charge a penny unless the tractor runs correctly when done. If you spend 150-250 bucks,
(service call and labor) to have it running, doesnt that sound cheaper than trying to drill and tap a hardend drive coupler??
Sorry, just me thinking out loud,,Al
