1962 Ford 861 fuel line route

Replacing the old rubber hose fuel line on my 861 with over center lever style valve 5/16 stainless line. I purchased C0NN9289E and am looking for information on how to route the fuel line. The current rubber hose I have runs to the front of the block and then down to the sediment bowl. This new 5/16 fuel line is shorter than I expected so am I missing another part of the fuel line?

what you have is OEM. Many Ford owners are convinced that when the fuel line is routed down through the manifolds, as they were from the factory, that the gasoline gets heated by the manifolds to the point that it vaporizes and stops. To prevent this they run the line around the front, though it is usually steel not rubber. You can use that new line and just slip some rubber fuel line over the steel for insulation where it passes through the exhaust manifold.
