I have a 1989 f350 dump truck that i replaced a leaky hydraulic hose on. I have the dump body suspended with the load off of the ram. The new hose is installed and my problem is that I have lost a lot of fluid ,but there is no sight glass or dip stick to check the level that it should be . also there is no manual or any info on what hydraulic fluid to fill it with. I took pictures of the hydraulic cylinder and the 55 gal barrel of fluid that I acquired when i bought one of my ford tractors. I was wondering if anyone on the forum might know if this fluid is okay to use and what level I would fill it to. thanks in advance for any info pictures included and I can get more if needed

Most any hyd fluid now days will work. As for filling it is like most I have worked with you fill the tank with the bed down or you will over fill the system and either blow something or leak out of the vent

I'm guessing that oil is what I call ISO VG 32. 32 is a pretty low viscosity fluid. I suppose, since you have it. it'll work.

I personally use a good quality Universal Tractor Fluid (UTF) in applications like yours.

The cylinder doesn't care it's the
pump that does, most any hyd oil will
be fine with a pto pump, if electric
pump atf is best for it's lower
viscosity especially in cold weather

That AW32 hydraulic fluid will work good in your dump app
I ran AW32 fluid in my trucks hydraulic system for operating dumps and live floor in trailers, we also used it in the most all of the mills 10 hydraulic packs

AW32 is a little light and doesnt have the additives needed for use in a tractor

thanks again for all the advise with this info I am sure I can make it work My only concern is that I have been using this hydraulic fluid in my tractors loader I have not had any problems if any thing it was operating better. but i hope that it is not damaging the pump

Thought I had replied to this earlier
If the tractors loader has it's own hydraulic system that AW32 oil will be fine, I used it in the loader/backhoe in my Ford 4500
The 3 point lift and rear axle used tractor hydraulic fluid
