Another Ford on Craigslist

Bottom of bolster where front axle goes under, and top of front axle are curved, so not a 4500 for sure. Too hard to see whether or not it has a hard nosecone though.

(quoted from post at 07:54:56 08/18/21) If I was a betting man I would lay pretty
good odds that a 3500, 3550, 4400, 4500,
5000 and maybe a 7000? all used the same
bolster.
Compare the parts drawings for the front axles between the 4400 and 4500. The 4500 axle is flat on top and so is the bottom of the bolster where the axle goes under. The front axle on the 4400, 3500 and 3550 is an upside down U, with the curve on top, and the bottom of the bolster is curved to match at the point where the axle goes under. The same upside down U shape is used on the 4000 and 5000 ag chassis models but theirs are adjustable width where the 4400, 3500 and 3550 axles are fixed width. The bolster is much longer, front-to-back, on a 4500 than a 4400, 3500 or 3550 as well.

Parts drawing for a 4500 bolster and front axle. Note how long it is front-to-back:

The bolsters look similar between the 4400 and the 3500 and 3550, but the 3500 and 3550 lists a different part number than the 4400. One difference I see is that the bolster for the 4400 has a zerk for greasing the front pivot pin where the one for the 3500 and 3550 does not.
