Rebuilding 850 engine with factory sleeves

Good morning All:

I posted earlier that my model 850, serial number 3I4I8, needs engine work. The block part number is EAF 6015 H which possibly means that the engine had cylinder sleeves original. Can someone tell me if that is so?

It appears that a number of stores sell the 4 inch overbore kits. This engine has 4.000 I.D. sleeves and approximately 3.995 O.D. pistons. I believe that those kits are not right for this tractor. Am I right in that belief?

Can anyone tell me who sells sleeves and pistons for this engine?

Thank you in advance for your attention to my concern.
Jim

I used this kit on an 850. I think the overbore kits are if you have to have your block machined out. The piston size stays the same but the sleeve is thicker. But I'm not 100% positive on that.

I think you'll find the commonly available kits will fit your engine. The fact that it currently has a 4" bore just means it's been overhauled before.

I don't know how deep you are getting, but if you have the block separated from the tractor and disassembled, take it to a shop, have them clean the block (often a lot of scale in the coolant passages) and install new freeze plugs. I'd have them remove and replace the sleeves also, altho it is possible to do that in the field. Pay attention to the wrist pin bushings, often they are taken for granted and overlooked. I have found they usually need replaced and then sized to the wrist pin, which is a machine shop job.
