A Lucas joke...

...I hope this is welcome here. I have a 4500 with a Lucas generator so I have skin in the game.

A British man in a Jaguar is broke down beside the road.
When the tow truck comes and the driver sees the Jag, he says "Hey you know why the British like warm beer?"
The Jag driver with a complete deadpan look says "I dunno. Why...?"
And the truck driver laughs and says "Because Lucas makes refrigerators too!"

I used to drive a Jag - it is a reputation well earned. A friend of mine had a well worn T-shirt that had large picture of an electrical switch on the front. The switch was labeled Dim, Off, Flicker.

Apparently Lucas made vacuum cleaners at one time, and it has been reported those were the only thing Lucas ever made that didn't suck!

On the other hand, sometimes the smoke finds it's way out of your wiring but Lucas has a solution for that!

. . . Used to drive a jag.
Is that what you do between the stretches of waiting for the tow truck or for the thing to get out of the shop?
Lucas.
Beware the dark side . . . .

When smoke finds its way out of the wiring on a Ford tractor, it's certainly not Lucas' fault, it's Ford's. Ford Tractor Operations was never
a big believer in fuses, at least not on open-station tractors until about the mid-1980s.

The only reason I have ever cursed Lucas was for the atrocious electric assisted hydraulic braking system use on the 80-99 medium and heavy duty Ford trucks. They tried too hard to make a hydraulic system equivalent to an air system and made an abomination that was worse than either.
