The SOS control wheel keeps slipping out of time on a Ford 6000. I have keep finding the neutral position again so I can start it. I found the neutral but now it is not in time with the shift pattern. I am using it that way now but I would to fix it right. Also the low pressure transmission light stays on all the time, but the transmission seems to be working right. I am beginning to getting to the point of letting it go down the road. I love the way that 6 cylinder diesel sounds pulling the 3x18 Ford 151 plow.

My cable wheel broke loose from the hardened steel center on my 6000 too. I repaired it by using SHARP drill bits and drilling five holes in the wheel shoulder and just catching the edge of the steel washer, and driving roll pins in the holes. Shifts like it should now. I wonder how many SOS transmission tractors were parked when that cable wheel failed, and the transmission was blamed?

The 6000 I restored was parked for 20 years supposedly because of a failed transmission. Turned out the problem was in one of the final drives. The tranny was about the only thing I didn't touch.
