Ford 2000 stabilizer bar(s)?

I just bought a 72 Ford 2000 that I'm going to use to brush hog with. Unlike the 1710 that I have that has adjustable stabilizer chains on the outside of the lower lift arms, this one only has light duty chain on the inside of the arms attaching to light duty C shaped brackets next to the pto shaft. It does have the brackets under the fenders to attach the stabilizer arms on both side. Do I need to run one on each side, or is a single side arm enough? I temporarily have an adjustable chain on both sides, but when fully elevated the chain starts to bind because the front pivot point is not on the same axis as the lower lift arm. Thanks in advance for your input. MBF

First off, the pivots must be on the same axis. Correct that before you go for stabilizer bars.

Stabilizer bars are meant to be used in tension. That means it takes 2 of them, one for each side. Using only one will get you a bent stabilizer.

Thank you!

If you already have the brackets install the pins so they are in line with the attaching studs of the lower lift arms. I got my stabilizers from this site. Made a world of difference with the 3-pt. rake.

Ford 2000; 3 cyl. gas; 4/1 trans.....I always heard you need to use a pair of stabilizer bars to distribute the instrument weight side to side. Attached (I hope) is a pic of one of my stabilizer bars and an easy way to keep the ends out of the dirt and to avoid backing up with them unattached and making very nice U shaped bars. Just a short change with a hook on one end and you have a hanger to keep them out of the way and off the ground. I painted the ends of my stabilizer bars yellow so I'd easily be able to see them.
