Hello everyone, I recently purchased a 1970 Ford 5000 tractor in fairly decent condition, had to do some minor repairs to it and I've read alot of the forums here and used the Ford service manual for alot. But my tractor is reading cols on the gauge all the time and the fuel gauge doesn't work nor do any of the battery lights or oil lights. I've read that the voltage regulator can be the culprit but that seems to only cause them to read high from what ive read. And help is greatly appreciated thanks in advance.

firt off, there is a 3 amp fuse just behind the cluster that feeds power to everything there. So if you gen and oil lights dont work, I would start there. Next would be checking or replacing the light bulbs on the gen and oil pressure. when they are working then I would check the power wire to the voltage stabilizer.

Ok ill check that for the lights for sure thank you! Any idea on why the temp and fuel gauge read empty and cold?

Because that's what they read when there's no power to them. The gauges are powered by the voltage stabilizer which is powered by the same fuse that powers the warning lights.

Ok so the fuse fixed the lights thank yall so much for the help with that, but the fuel and temp gauge are still stuck all the way to the left any suggestions? Maybe the voltage regulator?

Try connecting the gauge terminals that go to the senders to ground for just an instant to see if needle moves on either of them. If they don't move then the voltage regulator isn't putting out any voltage. If they do then they are getting power from the voltage stabilizer, and the senders or the connections to them would be my next suspect.

So they do move im guessing the sending units themselves are bad the temp gauge isn't so bad but the fuel gauge im guessing is gonna be hard to change im assuming?

Actually the temp sender is the harder one to change, it located in the front of the head near the thermostat housing and theres not much room there to get your hands in
With the dash panel out the fuel sender is accessible thru the hole in the tank shroud and can be worked up and out thru the hole

Thank you I wondered if you could put it on thru the hole there I recently changed the thermostat and should have went ahead and changed the sending unit but hind sight is what it is....

The fuel sender unit may have a bad ground connection. With the instrument cluster removed, run a jumper wire from battery (-) to the sender body (the "lid" you see in there) and watch the gauge.
