I have an old 3000 diesel, it is leaking at the fuel pump. I found this in my manual, although not shown, an outlet overflow tube is connected at fitting O.

That is overflow for inj pump, supposed to be a tube and banjo bolt there. Now change the oil in the pump. 1/2 wrench on side by stops, same size on bottom to drain, fills at top 7/8 or 15/16 wrench use same
oil as engine. fill to plug in side, do every time change engine oil.

Is the pump oil change for the Simms pump or Cav? Or both? Ive never done that, but I probably should. I have the Cav pump on my 3000. I need to get out my manual....

Do you know where I can get the tube and banjo bolt and where does the other end of the tube go? Thanks

(quoted from post at 03:30:11 08/08/21) You also need the pipe with a pigtail to retain some diesel in the pump cam box for lubrication. Oil in the pump only lubricates the governor.

Can you tell me where to get the pipe with a pigtail and what does it look like? Thanks

DO NOT OVER TIGHTEN THE BOLTS!!!! As they will strip out.. just snug them down on the injector pump. ESPECIALLY THE SMALL BOLTS.

Sorry for all the yelling... I get a lot of 3000's in where the drain bolt and check bolts are stripped out. Apparently the housing of the simms pumps are easy to strip.

Thank you very much.

One end has the banjo bolt and goes to the pump, the other just goes into space and
allows the diesel to fall on the ground. Try a scrap yard for the pipe or CNH, they
were pretty common parts on all tractors with a Simms Minimec pump.

Thanks, I saw a video on youtube that the man stated that when the pump starts leaking there that it is worn and needs to be rebuilt. Is that correct? What is CNH?

Tube and bolt are avaible from cnh and maybe some other places. There is nothing wrong with inj pump. Running with fuel in cam box or no oil will wear transfer pump arm and camshaft and plungers stick.
