I have a Ford New Holland 1720 and the serial / date tag is missing. I need a new starter and there is a serial break and without the tag I don't know what the serial number is. Help! Please and Thank you!!

I can't help you with the info missing on your tag, but if you look at your starter, you can tell which side of the serial number split your tractor is on-

the early style is a gear reduction style with part of the housing being stepped down (see below drawing) the later has a straight case with a planetary drive inside.

if you compare the two on the CNH site or at Messicks and look at the part numbers for the complete starter, they both are the same numbers, so only if you were after internal parts would it matter

if you Google the part number they give - SBA185086551 there are lots of aftermarket ones out there
