I currently have five Fords and two of them are Shibaura built. The two are a 1510 and a 1620. Both run perfect with no issues. Both have under 800 hours on them. No loaders.
The question: Both tractors make a hydraulic noise about every minute or so that sounds like a pressure relief valve rattling. Hot or cold doesn't matter. Both well maintained and stored under cover. Both hydraulics work perfect but just this deadheading sound every so often and it only lasts a second.
Would this be normal for the overseas tractors? None of the others do this nor the Kubotas.

I had a 1220 doing something similar and it turned
out to be rusty controls on the lift cover, this poor
thing had never been indoors since it left the dealer.
If it has a belly mower, make sure the lift linkage is
not running out of travel before the lower link arms
are all the way up. Same with the lower link check
chains, make sure theyre not going taught right at
the end of the travel of the lower link arms.
Shibaura is a nice tractor, but the parts were
starting to dry up; now with new Holland pulling all
these dealerships, parts are really gonna be a pain.

Thanks Fritz. Im thinking it just has real good pump pressure and an internal relief valve is doing its job.

You know I don't know but mine constantly whines. The three point raises and lowers OK but not super fast. As I recall it doesn't whine when fully lowered.

Have the head and block at the cylinder shop in Wichita. As soon as they weld the head and fix it, hone/bore the cylinders, they will let me know what size pistons and/or rings I need to order from Weavers. Probably take a week to get the parts in and then another week or two to get it done and installed.

Then I can mess around with the hydraulics unless I pull the top cover this week and take a look. It's sitting outside so I hate to have too many parts laying around. Will let you know when I do and what I see.

These little fellows like clean hydraulic fluid and a clean pump strainer. When my 1500 starts whining, I pull the strainer
and wash it out, I have had trouble with the red coating inside the housing flaking off and plugging the strainer.

Cant your machine shop order the parts? They can
get a better deal than you, and by time they mark it
up the price will be the same, maybe a little less.
The point being, for the same price, one less thing
you have to do. Its also best not to involve too
many people in this project. If something is
defective or doesnt fit, your machine shop is
responsible to correct, and pay shipping charges
for, the discrepancy. If you get the parts, its your
headache.
