4630 no power to the instrument panel

Working on a 4630 for a neighbor. He said it wasn't charging. I have no power to any of the
instruments and the is no power to the output terminal on the alternator. I've checked all the
fuses by the battery and of course they are fine. Are there any harness connectors buried in there
to check?

I believe that model has a battery temperature sensor on the tray under the battery. If it detects that the temperature of the battery is too high then the alternator won't put out a charge. If the sensor goes bad then the alternator also might not put out a charge.

Ok, I've seen that before. How would that
keep battery voltage from reaching the
instrument panel? There isn't any power
on the output terminal of the alternator
with the engine not running. Shouldn't
there be battery voltage there?

I'm not familiar enough with that electrical system to say for sure. There might be a diode or fuse that's blown, but those are just guesses. I would get a schematic and start there.

There's a plug on the left side near the bottom of the steering column that has 2-3 larger wires, that is the main power wires going to the switch.
The terminals inside the plug were corroded on a neighbors 5030
Just something to look for
