Bobbing/ Hiccups in 3 point early 60's 4030 Light Indus

My early 4000 series tractor with the 172 ci engine has a bobbing in the 3 point when in position control. I pulled the fill plug and was able to get a bore scope in while running. Appears the fluid is pulsing out out of the unloading valve rear bushing just above the control valve. (See attached video). Is this a unloading valve issue, or something else (Check Valve or back pressure valve?).

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks,

n that end of the unloading valve there is no seal other than precision sub-one thousandths metal to metal to retain 2000 PSI. I expect some bit of leakage (and a bit+ after 50 years of wear) and every time the unloader moves toward that opening it pushes that leakage out of bushing. You no doubt see the 'burps" correspond to the hiccups (immediately at end of correction).

JMOR so in your opinion would the fluid leaking out of this side of the unloading valve be the cause of the bobbing in the 3 point, or is it not the primary cause of my problem and I should be looking somewhere else?

If not this, do you have any suggestions of what might be causing the bobbing? The lift cylinder/bore does not leak fluid.

Thanks,
Dave

In my opinion it is not the cause of hiccups(leak-down, correct, leak-down, correct). Path in green must hold to avoid leak-down. Places that must hold are piston/cyl & associated gaskets, cyl safety valve, check valve, and finally the control valve port in the red circle. Diagram is for hundred series, but believe applies for your model, too.

Hello JMOR. Just wondering how you doctor those drawings to add the green and the red circle? Thanks.

I use a photo program called PaintShop Pro 6. It is my favorite, but there are probably dozens out in the world. "Paint" (I think is a part of Windows7) is ok, but not as many features & not as flexible. Canvas is another that I have used, but much more difficult. I'll hate it when eventually I have to move to a new operating system, because wife installed the version of PaintShop Pro that is compatible with WIN10 and I hate it....all changed and a whole new "learn all over" again!
