Slow 3pt lift 4000

I tried to use the 4000 this weekend to move some dirt with the dirt scoop. At low rpm the 3pt is real slow to raise. I have to give it more speed to get it listing. This is not normal for this tractor. It's a 69 3cly diesel and the pump is internal. I do not have much experience working on hydraulics or much testing equipment. Is there anything other than fluid to check first?

Does the speed improve with the lift off? If yes, then you have a pressure problem. If no, you have a flow problem.

Pressure problem could be a worn pump or failed relief valve. A worn pump will typically still pump somewhat OK with cold oil, and get
progressively worse as the oil heats up.

Flow problem is most likely a plugged inlet screen. This will require removing the pump to clean.

And of course, check your fluid level first.

Not sure what you mean by "does the speed improve with the lift off"

As far as temp I don't notice a difference between when it's hot and cold it works the same. Now when I start it up first time for the day it takes the 3pt longer to raise. Like the fluid maybe leaking out of the lift cylinder.

Oops, I meant does the speed increase with the load (scoop) off? In other words, just the bare arms?

If it works the same hot or cold, I'm leaning more towards a flow issue, like a plugged inlet screen.

Yeah speed seems about the same. It won't lift my 7' rototiller as fast as my carry all but I kind of expect that. This screen you are talking about. Does it require pulling the top cover or can it be accessed from one of the side covers?

If you have a remote valve on it, you may have the handle slightly off center.
The valve off center will divert some of the flow and cause the 3 PH to be slow.

I have dual remote valves at the rear. I will check them tonight but I am pretty sure they self center well.

(quoted from post at 09:12:04 07/27/21) The suction screen on a 4000 is accessed by removing the top cover or splitting the tractor.

Thank you for the help. I am going to put a clutch in it this fall and will just use my 4630 more.
