Diesel conversion

Want to change my 4200 gaser to diesel
I have a newer donor tractor but need left side 67 hood without air cleaner
Any one ever try making a 5000 hood fit a 4000 row crop

5000 hood is a few inches longer.
I looked into them when I converted mine.
It is a 66 and has the louvered hood so a
5000 hood, even if louvered, would not
work.
If yours is a smooth hood I think you could
cut one down to fit pretty easily. Move the
hinge brackets as needed.
I did find a real nice left hand hood after
searching for a while.
For the diesel air cleaner I cut the
brackets out of a junk nose and welded them
into mine.
You can use a hole saw to cut a hole in the
right side of the bridge for the air tube.
I drilled the spot welds out of the bridge
in the junk one and moved it over to mine.
Pretty simple to do if you can weld a
little.

NYBlue, if you are looking at modifying a hood like UD described, if you are not aware there is a special tiny hole saw for cutting spot welds, and a standard procedure for plug re-welding the cut welds.

I hope someday I could get my 4200 to look that nice.
I also have the louvered hood and thought maybe a 5000 hood could be trimmed shorter on the front edge if the rest lined up? I found another 4200 that I just had to have but its also a gasser. They must have not made many diesel row crops this makes 3 gas ones I have found.

Thats good to know
It is going to have to wait until this winter.
Trying to harvest water logged wheat now
But nice to dream a little

I know the place your talking about
Have bought some platform tin from that same tractor its about 40 minutes away

Whats the name of the salvage yard? Im over between Syracuse and Watertown. I got some stuff from Macfaddens, but thats a couple hours away from me. Always good to know of some place closer.

It was a couple of years ago but Rock
Stream rings a bell.
Decent guy to deal with - went out and dug
through his warehouse while I was on the
phone with him. He brought a tape measure
and measured for me.
Had found another one in VA. It was dinged
up and the exhaust hole was boogered up.
He wanted twice as much. Didn't like that I
called them louvers either. Insisted they
were vents. ??
Here is the hood I bought.

And a photo of mine as a gasser with Select
O Speed. Has an 8 sp now.
The tin was very nice.
