1961 Serial number 131427 - 155530

from the CIH parts site - New Holland 821 - 4 CYL AG TRACTOR ALL PURPOSE(01/58 - 12/64)

I don't know why you care what year it is but anyway the last number for 1961 was 131427, making your 821 a 1962.

131427 was the starting serial number for 1961, not the last one. 155531 was the first for 1962, so his serial number, 137166 is a 1961 serial number.

These are more like German cars, where they made changes mid-year, So before or after serial numbers is what is important. So for example I have an 821 that was made in March of 1958, and your would-be March of 1961. So you have the larger Carburetor(TSX-813 After s/n 126523 1962-1964 ford part #CONN9510C) and rear axle than mine. But since we are both after 14,256 we have the 15 splines transmission, rather than the 10 splines one.

Thanks, your info seems very accurate . Yes I have a tsx813 and I can't get it to idle or run at lower rpm . Boy are those carbs expensive, so I put a carb kit in it no help. Spark is good, so could it be a vacuum leak ?

Thanks, I got your e-mail will let you know what happens. 821 is my work tractor and my 860, had since 1987 , is one Iam fixing up. It used to be my work tractor, needed to be fixed up .

Yes both the TXS769 and 813 are expensive and hard to find. How is your fuel flow? you can blow the line back into the tank with compressed air to clean it up. Then start with the simple things first, check everything... timing, compression, vacuum, look at the spark plug wires, any cracks, sitting good, order correctly.
