Now that I'm a Major owner questions??

I get lots of info from this & the 9-2-8N site, but as a new Fordson Major owner, is there a FM site I should be joining? I know nothing about them but have always been intrigued by them & have lots of questions, starting w/#'s for tune-up parts.

There is a Fordson Forum on this site, second one below this Ford Forum. Someone there might know of other sites for Fordson Majors.

Unfortunately the Fordson board doesn't see a lot of traffic. If your question doesn't get any responses over there, try asking here or on Tractor Talk. There are plenty of Major fans lurking on either board.

Thanks Mark. I'm finding that out!
For now I need some VERY basic answers - like what is the dashboard supposed to look like? I could really use a pic w/things marked. Most everything on this Major has been wired around - like separate ignition switch & start button - & the whole wiring is a MESS!
Also, is the I&T 201 the right manual?
Thanks!

It's been a few decades since I was around a Major. As I recall, the original starter used a hand lever to activate the starter solenoid. The previous owner of your tractor probably couldn't get parts for the original setup and converted it to a standard starter relay. Which would require a starter switch that the original tractor didn't have.

I'm not familiar with the manuals available for Majors, but in my experience with Fords, the I&T manuals are a poor substitute for the factory shop manuals. eBay is a good source for original manuals and reprints.

Thanks again Mark. I should have said it's a gas engine, which might change how things look! Also, I have been searching for the right manual but have only found the FO-201 suggested & it is for MANY other models so I wonder how complete the Major part is???

I'm doubtful you will be happy with the I&T TO-201 manuals. As you say, it covers a bunch of models, most of which have nothing in common with your Major.

Here's a set of factory manuals that appears to cover all Majors from 1952 to 1964. It looks like they're reprints of the original operator and shop manuals. 56 bucks is quite reasonable for these manuals.
