Ford 555B block heater question

I picked up a 1986 555B backhoe this fall and bought a cord to use in the block heater. The problem is the cord has a 90 degree plug that interferes with the starter so I can't get it to fit. Can the block heater be easly rotated? I'm assuming you loosen the screw in the middle and that should free it up? I really don't want to drain all the coolant right now in the cold so I'm hoping I can get it just loose enough to turn but not lose much fluid. If I rotate the socket to the 3 o'clock position the cord will work.

Just bot one for my tractor that I can't use. Yours looks like the same style Kat's brand heater with wings on the inside that tighten up and hold it in place. You should be able to loosen it with a screw driver in the middle and then rotate it if not rusted/stuck in to tite. Google Kat's block heaters and you should see a pic of what you have. If it is one of the short L shaped elements you just have to make sure there is room for the element at the 3:00 position. They probably extend out from the edge about an inch or so. Just want to make sure it doesn't short to the block. Let us know how it goes.

Thanks. I wasn't sure if the block had clearance for the heater element loop to rotate to different positions.
