Elenco axle I.D.

I was wondering how many different axle configurations were there available for the conversion kit Elenco made for Ford tractors? Ive seen the type with a bolt-on differential cover then others were it is welded on and still others that have "ELENCO" cast in them. And that is just for the 600-800 type tractors- the industrials had a totally different type of axle!

Also, how many different gear ratios were used, and is that stamped anywhere on the axle or do you have to remove and visually inspect the gears to know??

(quoted from post at 01:42:32 01/21/21) Best to give Tony Jacobs a call. He owns the Elenco company and all the info you need.

This reminds me that there was a Tony Jacobs question three weeks ago and I shot him a text that he was needed here but I haven't seen him appear.

Hello Warbaby , Considering Elwood Engineering Co. Was in business from 1948 - 1978 , then I bought it in 1988 there is a lot of combinations . There was one combination for 1948-1952 8N’s , one combination for 1953-1954 NAA’s , one basic combination for 1954-1957 600 series and one for 1954-1957 800 series but both of those could be had with different Transfer case ratios depending on tire size but that was dropped for the new 1957 601/801 tractors when they Standardized rear tire size . For the 1957-mid year 1962 601 and 801 tractors there 4 each then for the Midyear 1962-1965 2000 and 4000 models there was two each . When you get into the Heavy Duty Industrials there is 3 common axle kits and 1 other very rare kit . There is 2 different front axle gear ratios , generally 4 different transfer case ratios for 600/601/2000 rear axle ratios and 4 more ratios for 800/801/4000 rear axle ratios not including the earlier 1954-1957 Hundred series tractors . Actually I think I am forgetting a few of the High Clearance Axle and Logging Axle combinations I think that will add at least 4 more transfer case combinations . You see the early bolt on cover axles the welded cover axle and the later cast axles and those were available in the Industrial line as well and the High Clearance and Logging axles as well not to mention a few Heavy Duty Industrial Logging axles as well . Then there was both 4400 and 4500 cast axle kits also so that adds 2 more combinations . There was an LCG combination listed in the factory paperwork but I have never found one of those but that would have added 2 more combinations if there is any out there . Thanks Tony
