testing a diesel pump by installing in a 134 g

probably yes.... as long as the diesel gear mates correctly with the gas gears, it should work. Gota wonder if you could rig up a drill instead?? Weld a pipe coupler to a nut, and reduce down till a drill chuck will fit?

The pump gear will nor fit into the gas block. The bore in the lower guide for the gear is too small. The drill is a better way unless you have the injector connected and then it will take more than the drill to make the injector pop.

You can test one by mounting it in a soft jaw vise, and spin it with a electric variable speed drill. A 172 pump spins counter clockwise as viewed from the drive end. Al

I didn't want to pull the distributor anyway, thanks. I have a drill that I'm almost scared of, I might have to ductape a board to it.
