That would be a GM HEI conversion of the homemade variety. I bet it starts and runs a lot better than it used to.

I did the same conversion to a 302 Ford last summer, albeit not homemade. Huge difference, worth every penny.
 
Gm Hei conversions... we had a early 80's mopar at work with the OEM "clean burn" system thing wouldnt run good at all... we put a conversion in it and it really woke things ups, worth every penny. there are hei conversions for everything... ive seen em for Toyota r series engines too!!
 
I hope it sold cheap. That's one beat up tractor! The HEI
conversion might be a bonus but could be done much more cleanly.
 
The NAA's had metal lines that ran from the pump, under
the transmission and back to the sump. Suction and return.
It looks like someone replaced them with hoses.
