Looking to find someone, that has the OEM diesel tank out/off with a pic. of the sender unit wire on it.......OR, knows where the unit is located on the top of the tank, so I don't have to rip the tin off of it, to locate the tank sender
I, am replacing ALL the wiring in this 3000, and this wire location, is all I need to have my ducks in a row.
I already got a lot of help with this from Destroked, but forgot to aske him about the sender wire for the fuel gauge.

TIA, for this info.

It is to the right, and just ahead of the instrument cluster, if you remove the screws from the cluster, and pull it away from the cowling,
you should be able to see it. If you swing the battery out of the way, I believe you can see it, but can't remember if you can get your hand
in there to get to the spade connectors.

Thanks for the info.
My sender is working with the New cluster, but the New wiring harness does not have a wire in it to the sender, and my 'Easy Way' NOT to have to mess with the sender is, to snake the existing sending wire to the new cluster. Saving me any work with the tin Dismantling!!!!! Lazy little bugger, ain't I!!??? :lol:

Thanks again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi Jerry;
Not gonna go there, If I don't have to. Gonna try leaving the 'Sleeping dog Lay'!! :lol: If that is where that sender is, there should be enough length with the old wire.......Did I mention??? Elect. does NOT like me very much, and I need all the luck I can get.!!!
I'm learnin' this mother, step by step.
Actually having a ball, and so far, I'm about done with the fixes!!!
(Block heater took a dump last month), figgers!!!!! Cold out there.

BTW:....My Grandson says, "Hermie the 2N, has never failed him yet" 8)

SEE YA!!!

Gary :twisted:

Just in front of the closer on the right side, I can remove the sending unit without removing anything but the cluster.
A 10-12" piece of 14 gauge wire and a couple of crimp connectors and you'll be good to go.

Howdy;
Glad to hear from you, about being able to remove the sending unit if I have to. If that unit is that easy to access, maybe I WILL throw a New wire on it. Would be nice to know that I will have all new wires on this 3000.
I should have taken a little more time looking the 3000 over!!! I'm thinking the upkeep on it was quite lacking by the two prev.
PO's.
But, It will prob. be the last one I ever buy, and it IS running strong, and coming together nicely!!!

Thanks for all your help!!! I'll keep you and others updated when the wiring project is completed.

Gary :)

Gary... I have a fiberglass roof that would look great on the 3000. it would just need to be adapted to fit. It came off that 6600 i had a while back. Here's a pic
you know you want it Gary... price is 'You come and get it"

Hi Mike;
While I DO like you generosity, there are two reasons I cannot accept your offer.
#1...The wife cannot travel, and we are still working to get her health better from lingering problems, caused by her auto accident of 7 1/2 years ago.
#2....Even if I could come over and get it, I would not be able to use it!! If I put the topper on my 3000, I cannot/would not be able to get the 3000 into the shop. I am only 2 1/2 inches lower than needed to be able to drive in through the shop door as it is.!!

SO....Thanks for the offer, but will pass up the topper.
Thanks anyway!!!
