If you spray some ether in, does the tractor start up and stay running? Mine ended up needing injectors. The tractor wouldn't start up on its own sometimes, just cranking with white smoke even when it was 60 + outside. Just don't use the thermostart when using ether or you might wake yourself up.

Hey Mike thanks for the reply this is not my tractor in fact I went to look at it to buy it the seller changed his mind and I am trying to help him get it started it's cold here hovering around freezing he has changed a few of the injector fuel lines and recently rebuilt the injectors and it ran after that like i said it cranks at a good speed smoke from the exhaust and when the starting fluid is sprayed it just barely speeds up a little never starts i think there might be air either trapped in the fuel lines or maybe leaking there is fuel to the cylinders
the fuel pump seems to be working as it should but we did have to fix the throttle linkage to it I still think that its a problem with the fuel lines not being properly bled its an old tractor 50 years old and i know from my own experience i have 3 4500 fords that as the rings and valves wear it is hard to start them more in the winter than the summer time but this has to be moved within 2 weeks any advise is appreciated thanks Larry

Thanks for the reply Sean My son was saying the same thing. We don't own that equipment and when i rented one from the auto parts store we didn't get accurate readings, I was confused on what to buy as they seem to be different for gas and diesel tractors and I own both
