There must mot be many tractor guys on bring a trailer. A 1957 Ford 640 sold for $11,250. Good for the seller I guess, but wow did a buyer pay for not doing due diligence and get caught up in an auction.
Crazy sell price

Wow, that is crazy, especially since the seller admitted in the listing that there was a leak at the power steering pump.

I contacted the buyer offering to sell them a uncut grille and lower panel for only 1200.oo......................

And a 5 speed tachometer on a 4 speed tractor. Sometimes FFA restored tractors sell high as a fund raiser for the club. Sounds like students restored this one. Maybe a club fund raiser also. Otherwise doesn't make any sense.

If the tractor is completely rebuilt, that price is not too far off the mark. A little wiggle room for negotiating left in. Maybe 20 years ago, I called Tom Armstrong in Indiana and his price for an 861 totally refurbished was $10000.

Must be one of those rare Gold Plated 600 Models... ; > )

Still 6V, text says refurbished by a group of HS students so maybe buyer was rich and wanted to support his local HS. Either that or he just didn't do his homework.

Somehow it got retitled as a '57. Isn't it a '54? Dad's '57 641 is all red. Is the cutout for a front-mounted pump factory, or an aftermarket modification?

It looks like a '57 to me. First year of the 860 had flat foot boards. They didn't turn up in the front. Your dad's all red 641 Workmaster is a 1958 model even though it could have come off the assembly lne in late 1957.

The listing started out incorrect with it listed as a 54 and was later corrected to a 57. A 54 would be an NAA and would have the large nut in the center of the rear axle. The front grill was cut out for a loader pump and not at the factory. The tractor either used to have a loader on it, or was missing the grille and they found one that was cut out for a loader pump. The bottom of the grille should be solid with a vertical slot hole. The bottom of the Jubilee and NAA have a round hole at the bottom of the grille.
