G wire from generator on a Ford 801 diesel

Does the wire on "G" terminal on generator go to "ARM" terminal on voltage regulator? I have tried it there but doesn't charge. I have polarized the voltage regulator but still just 12.5 volt charge. Any help appreciated.

One can only WONDER about how some of you guys can attempt to FUBU things!

The SHORT version is that "G" means "GROUND" and a wire runs from "G" on the generator to one of the VR mounting bolts to ensure the "case" of the generator and the "frame" of the VR are at the some ground potential for accurate voltage regulation.

"I have polarized the voltage regulator"

Voltage regulators for these old machines NEVER need to be "polarized".

When you do all that itchy twitchy arcy stuff at the VR you are actually polarizing the GENERATOR.

(quoted from post at 09:39:38 01/18/21) Hummm....
Someone did a good job of drawing that wiring diagram.
Obviously not a factory diagram.
LOL.
pretty fair copy of real thing, but.......just not a fit for Mr. pawpaws tractor. 🙉

I was just messing with wore out.
There is not a correct x01 gas diagram for the 6 volt system in any Ford manual.
At least I have never been able to find one.
So I took another diagram and modified it to fit that system.
I have seen the diagrams I drew all over the net.
Especially the ones for the alternator conversions.
I even saw one ebay seller including my diagram in a 12 volt conversion set he was selling.

Here is the correct diagram for the x01 diesel from the Ford manual.
Wore out can now save this one to his computer so he can post the correct diagram next time.
