Ford 601 can't get it to drive

Sherman built the reverser transmission, mainly for tractors outfitted with loaders. It was handy to have a way to quickly drive into a pile of material, grab a load then back out without fishing through a shifter gate. You simply pull it back or shove it forward through its 3 ranges; Forward, Reverse and a centrally located Neutral.

It probably upped your load-out numbers by 2-3 yards over a days work...

Good to know, 2 questions. Any ideas on the no locomotion issue and do you think it is worth another 1200 dollares to fix it ?
Tractor over all I mean, I probably would remove the hoe unit which works good as does the laoder

is it possible the reversing trans is stuck in nutral ? It seems to be shifting from one gear thru nutral to another gear .

There might be an issue with the reverser, but more likely a clutch issue. If it is the clutch that's better/cheaper/easier than dealing with the reverser. Still a split to get to it.

If I read your posts correctly, you'd remove the hoe and use the tractor as a tractor/loader. If it twer me in that situation, I'd look at moving this unit on and getting a 660/661 or an 860/861 or a 4000 as a more useful/better featured tractor.

You paid $1200 and say you can get it fixed for another $1200. So $2400 invested + time/effort. A TLB in usable condition should easily command $2500-$3000. I'm seeing pretty good looking 860/61's and 4000's on CL and FBM right now in the $2500-$4000 range.

Food for thought.

What do you believe I could ask for this tractor as I would just as soon have an 800 w/ loader and 3 pt hitch and PTO for mowing ?
And where would be the best place to advertise this beast ?
