New Member. Thanks for letting me join! I have a ‘69 Ford 4000 3cyl diesel 4x4 . Getting ready to modify a Bushog loader to fit unless someone knows a better option for a loader ? Anyone have any pics of a loader the mounted on a 4x4 from that era ? My only issue I see so far is modifying belly bracket around front drive shaft . Thanks in advance.

Welcome. You can see they let me join so obviously they don't require any qualifications other than follow the rules and there are a number of words that it won't let you post. Go down to the test forum and click on any test topic or start your own. Then do about 10 test replies under a topic. Once you have 10 then it will recognize you as a real person and not a bot so then you can post pictures which will help people see what you are talking about. Since my pics are on the phone, I have the site on a tab in my chrome browser. Peck in the words and down below you will see a button for choose files and select the pics from your gallery or file list. You have to enlarge the screen to press the button. Then press the begin uploads button. If you add more it will say continuing uploads. I do a couple hard returns under my text before doing that. When uploaded you will see the image data in your post. Then hit submit or preview
to see your pics and then submit. It can be slow uploading sometimes especially out in the boons but connected to the wifi it can go fast.

Other than that I can't help you. I just got a ford 1500 a week ago and learning it. I am looking for a little loader for it though. There are some good and knowledgeable people here though.

Thanks BC , I left them a message. Would love to see some pics of a
4000 4x4 with loader if there’s any out there . I have some ideas
about how to modify my brackets, but sometimes there’s a better way
.

Do an internet search for ford 4000 4x4 and if you find dogdiesel you will see a loader on a 4x4 4000, been on it for over 15 years.

My tractor supposedly was used to mow medians by the state of TN an @ 25 year ago, th L/F hub Selene (SCHINDLER) axle hub repaired. Preload was never tight enough. Last fall, I took it down and sourced the parts, also replacing winged ujoints on both sides and going back with new hardware and Nord-lock washers. Pulled L/F new years to fabricate a tweak to preload. If it lasted 25 years, not perfect, I'm looking for permanently. Bottom line. You can find parts if you try.

It will be a bit on pics . The loader I plan to use is currently mounted
on my 2wd ‘70 model 4000. After I work the kinks out of the 4x4 .
Needs power steering and fuel leak repairs . I then plan to start the
loader swap. ( unless I find another used loader ) the issue is the
bracket that goes under bell housing for loader will not clear
driveshaft without modifying. I’m sure there’s folks somewhere that
have already have a good solution for this . There were likely loaders
manufactured for these tractors when new . I’d like to see how they
addressed the issue .

I actually bought and sold a loader, trying to find one to fit. My issue was rubbing the front tires with the first one. Caught it before any modification, so actually sold it for more than paid. So many loaders WILL fit, but, many cause bracket issues. Few fit our tractors without some modifications.
Mine will lift a lot. I run 16.9-34 fully loaded, and without antifreeze in tires, loader would lift more than rear end could hold down. It handles 5+6 foot bales with ease. It's the most demanded tractor on the farm. 4wd makes the loader.

I have owned a 4000 2wd for almost 20 years . It’s the best tractor I’ve ever had . The 2425 bushog loader is currently on it . I fabricated a ballest on top of my box blade for counter weight. We move a lot of hay with it . 4x4 tires Tires will clear it . I just have to modify belly bracket. I kinda hate to take it off my 2wd . That’s why I wanted to see other folks set up ? I might buy another loader for my 4x4 . We also have a 4600 that’s been in my family since new .

Look for a Freeman Loader if you can find one. I have one on my '73 4000 and the frame only mounts to the tractor at the rear axle and the front of the bolster, so there's no bracket that goes under the transmission. I'm not sure of the exact model of the one that's on my tractor, so I can't be any more specific.

(quoted from post at 20:23:40 01/17/21) Is your tractor a 4x4 ?

I assume that was meant for me. No, mine is a regular 2WD model, but I don't think that the loader frame would interfere with the drive shaft or gear box for an Elenco 4x4 model. Ford never made a 4x4 4000 themselves. They were all aftermarket, and there were a few different ones, and I am not familiar with all of them. The Elenco was the most popular, but you never said exactly what yours is.

Haven’t found any identification yet. Looks like my PTO box could
interfere with a axle mount loader though. Any idea what brand 4x4
kit it is ? Including 2 photos.

You have the exact same 4x4 kit that I have on mine. First that GEAR box is covered in the parts manual as part of the emergency brake kit. At least you can get the ceramic disk and the handle, button, spring and such from FNH. Second, the rear end is not the same as any other 4000, so take care of it. I know, because I bought a complete rear end and could not use it. Not to worry, I now have a Ford 4000 Selecto Speed and on am prepared for that day. I have had everything apart on the 4x4 rear end, and back together, and parts are available.

I also have had that front end totally apart, and back together. It was Selelene, bought out by Schindler, who now only makes elevators. But unless you crush or destroy the hub casting, the parts can be measured with a micrometer and ordered, even if they are no longer available. Trust me, I have ordered them. And got them in. Now if you are not mechanically inclined, sell the damn TRACTOR now. Not a dealer, not a repair shop, not a machine shop hardly at all could I find would touch it, Oh, they'd take your money and then tell you that you need to find somebody to fix this thing... A hydraulic press is a must for the hub job. And brass punches. Actually, it wasn't that hard. I know who made the axle shafts, where machined (right here in the USA for the Germans) I did about 5 years of home-work before I tore into my left front hub that just did not have tight enough inside bearings. I could shake the wheel and feel play. The right hub, which I pulled, to replace the WINGED U-JOINTS is or looks to be original, and is still tight or was repaired 25 or 30 years ago RIGHT. The left side was not, and when it failed, there was some damage. The right side is pristine. I have rebuilt the drive shaft, which is metric. Funny thing, some parts are metric, some are SAE. Probably all METRIC, with SAE cross-over.

Few years back, I tried to help a guy with a 4000 4x4 in NC, who junked it for HUBs. Made me sick. If I knew then, what I know now...

Bracket bolts to the transmission housing and arm goes to the front axle support frame. Another bracket bolts to bracket and goes to rear axle. Nothing goes under tractor. Same on other side. Loader is a Farmhand 570. There is one for sale now in Wheeler Illinois off a FNH 6610. $1850 OBO.

This is bolt on without modification, except for the L/R bracket to rear axle. About 1 hr mod.

Awaiting seller to call me back . Thanks for sharing that . Do you mind sharing pics of how you modified yours ?

Wayne B ,
Loader sold last week :( . If your referring to the Machinery Pete add ? Hopefully I can find another Farmhand 570. Does it have quick attach bucket?

I use remotes to run the loader, so I installed DUAL remotes.
I have a Cam Timing gear driven pump set-up that I found, and IF I can find a set of tubes from a selecto-speed to sump I will set loader up for live as a project for retirement.
Other than when I did my engine, I have not had my loader off the tractor.
And then, my old engine was still running, and I unloaded the loader with hydraulics, by putting the bucket under a heavy dozer blade and powering it off.
