Trying to help a guy out with his 3000 power steering. His upper shaft seal surface isn't up to par. Trying to find him a repair sleeve. Thought I had bought them here before but maybe not.
Anyone have a link to one?
Thanks

Should have mentioned...
It's a long range assist via phone, text and email.
Vermont/Minnesota.
He's NOT a mechanic and is in over his head.
Was hoping to find an online source.

As an aside, I have had no luck with speedi sleeves in the past due to oil migrating between the shaft and the sleeve.

There used to be a local machine shop that would spray weld them and turn them back to original size. They closed years ago and we haven't found any shops in the are that do it now. He should check machine shops to see if any of them that.

Not long ago I went to put the sleeve on I knew something was not right and I was right someone had installed one on it in the past. The old one had worn into with a little tapping it came right off... They are so thin and fit so well its hard to tell it has a sleeve on it.

There was no ware on the original shaft I installed the sleeve any ways... I doubt he will ware thru the sleeve in our lifetime.

This is a stretch; but since everything to gain and very little to loose, I would try epoxy putty under a speedi sleeve.

I put a speedi-sleeve on a steering shaft off a Ford 6600 i had a while back. I used JB Weld on the shaft and let it set up good so i could emory paper it smooth and then pushed on the sleeve....worked good

i can't see the end of the shaft, but i'd think it would be pretty simple to turn it, and shrink a sleeve over it and od it to original size. good luck

I have installed 2 end to end on the same shaft before and used jb weld to fill in the middle of the 2. You need to think it through before you start. You can use the driver to install the first one backward and the next one the way it's meant to be driven on. The end without the peel-off is square but the peel-off leaves a rough edge. I did the first one wrong before I thought it out. JB weld may not be needed if done right.

Not if you do it right. It's physically impossible for the oil to leak past the Loctite if it's applied properly. And, the speedi-sleeve will do a better job than the original sealing surface since the OD of the sealing surface is now slightly larger.
