changed PTO shaft in the 850

When I changed the PTO shaft the old one came right out but I had to tap the new one in. Not hard to go in. Just concerned I may have hurt something in the trans. It seems to operate good as far as engaging and disengaging. What do you think?

Thank you sir, I just wanted a little reassurance I guess. Sure like seeing pictures and videos of your herd of Fords still working.

I just pulled and reinstalled two last week.. Both had to be pulled with a bit of force and reinstalled with the same force. Seals were replace and reinstalled.

Had to use some long screwdrivers to wedge in between, to pull them out...

and tap a hammer to put them back. Both shafts showed to be true and no twist in the splines.

I have pulled some with a some "twist" in them with very long pry bars and a lot of hammer work. Someone probably hit a log or big rock with a shredder to twist the pto shafts.

If someone hammered on the forward end when working on it usually. A little filing on the splines and they slip right in.
