1964 Ford 4000 serial number records

I am a regular user of the "N" Forum but I thought I would reach out to the "Ford" forum. I am in search of a 1964 Ford 4000 gasoline Row Crop Select O speed tractor that my Dad purchased back in 1964. I was naively thinking this tractor looks like the 40 year old memory in my head. But 40 years is a long time. The only way to identify the exact tractor is to have the serial number.

Do records exist of sales back in 1964?
I have all the information of the original purchaser and I know the dealership, Mankato MN, where it was bought. The dealership is no longer Ford and I am sure it has changed hands many times but maybe I can get lucky.

Thanks for any information you may have. In the end I may have to find the correct model and call that close enough!

I suspect that info is long gone. I don't think back in the day that Ford Tractor Operations had owner information pertaining
to each unit they produced. I've seen sales slips made out for 50-year old tractors that didn't even have the serial number on
it. And even if they did, I'm sure that info went into the trash bin of history long before even Fiat took over.

I think you're going to need to satisfy yourself with finding something that is close enough.

I agree with Bern, below.

It would take extraordinarily good luck to stumble upon the same tractor that your father bought new in 64 even if you had the SN.

That said, 4 cylinder 4000 row crop tractors with the SOS transmission are not "rare," so finding a similar one is certainly possible.

If you know which dealership he bought it from and that dealership is still in business, you might get luck asking them if they have old records like that, but the chances are not that good.
