Model 600 power steering

I posted days ago about buying the power steering from a 1958 model 600 to put on my '55 850. It turns out that the 600 is a industrial model notice front axle below. The axle is a heavy one piece casting with the spindle features integrated in. The radius arms for this tractor are not a fit for my adjustable front axle on the 850. He offered to sell me the front axle with everything needed. I have two questions.

The engine support on the 600 looks like the 850 support. Will the 600 axle work in place of the 850 axle(does it fit and does it make sense)?

What is a fair price for the 600 front axle, spindles with wheel rotors, wheels, and steering arms?

That is a 2000 or 4000 light industrial model.
You would need to get the entire package including the engine mount, axle, radius rods and drag links - plus the other parts we listed the other day. Then it all would be direct swap onto your 850.
The only thing you might consider is the front axle is non adjustable and a bit wider than the "usual" width of an 850 front axle. Those are Very stout axles and ideal if you have a loader.
Below are photos of a 2000 light ind my friend had that give a good view of the front. I would still only give the seller about a Grand for the whole package.

You've got the juice Ultradog. Good call.

See pictures below. I went out to the CNH site and the light industrial axle configuration is not in the section with the 2000/4000 and sub-models. The engine support with the adjustable axles is different. It appears to have a plate to mount the FEL while the one at the salvage yard has the same radiator mount as my 850 (no thread on axle pin).

The support on the "600(?)" maybe tractor was ripped and patch/welded at some point so I'm not real concerned that someone will snap it up if I leave there and ask the owner to hold it until I confirm I don't need it.

I agree with you, I am impressed by how much more substantial that axle is. So, I need to confirm that I can repair the spindle and axle bushings and make sure the wheel bearings can be replaced.

If anyone knows anything about the compatibility of the light industrial axle on my 850 tractor please respond.

Thanks for your help,
Jim

Search on the parts site for 2030, 2130, 4030 or 4130 to find the light industrial 4 cylinder models to see the parts drawings for the front axle and steering. The models with the 0 in the second spot were made from 1961-1962 and the ones with the 1 in the second spot were made form 1963-1964. The 2000 and 4000 series light industrial models all used the same front axle and steering setup for all years. As has been said, you will need all of the parts listed in your old thread and the ones listed by Ultradog in this thread to transfer that power steering system to your 850. The engine and transmission are the same between the industrial and ag chassis models so the front axle support (bolster) will bolt right on and the brackets for the radius rod ends will do so as well, as will the steering gear (column).

Thankyou Sean in PA. I will go out there now and check it out.

Thank you Sean in PA.

The model 2030 in the CNH documentation looks like what is on the tractor.

Something I also found was that CNH doesn't list the part no. for this support. I am failing to find the needed part out there by searching on the model and name. Can you come up with a part no. Or maybe Ultradog's buddy has the manual with the part no.

Your help with this is greatly appreciated.

Jim
