How To Install SOS PTO Cable?

I had to remove the pto cable on my 4400 to get the sheet metal off due to the pull lever being rusted together. I've managed to get the lever working properly and the sheet metal back on, but now I've got to reinstall the cable.

How do I know how far to thread the tail of the cable into the transmission? I see the lever has an On and Off detent so it stays in that position, and i'm wondering if I somehow need to match those detents to the placement of the cable?

Thanks! Happy New Year! Bryce

You need to read and understand the procedures in the proper Ford service manual.

Not going to try to coach you through this in a chat forum.

You thread it all the way in until it almost pulls the conduit flush up against the fitting on the cover with the lever in the on position.
