Ford NAA 12V conversion kit issue

Hi,
I bought a 12v conversion kit for my 1954 Ford NAA tractor. The top alternator bracket does not seem to fit right. In order to have any tension on the belt, the bracket doesn't reach the bolt hole on the alternator, it seems like the alternator is pivoted too far out and I need a curved bracket. I was thinking I could get a shorter belt. however it also seems that the alternator pulley is sitting just shy of about a half a belts width farther forward and I am concerned it will chew the belt. Has anyone used the 12v conversion kit from Yesterday's tractor co? Any advise would be helpful.

Thanks

I've never used a kit. Read complaints all the time about brackets not fitting .I

Always just bought an alternator and flat stock for new bracket. I looked at the pictures on this site of the kit. The bottom bracket looks pretty close to what
I made for dad's. I think the mounting ears were slightly longer on mine which would move the top mount of the alternator closer to the engine.

On dad's tractor for the top bracket I reused the old one and moved it out slightly more. I took a short piece of flat stock and drilled a hole in each end. I
bolted it to the block and then bolted the bracket to the end of the flat stock. That moved the bracket out about two inches.

If I remember right, I used one of these small block chevy universal brackets on my Jubilee.

Struggle posting pictures here, but my Yesterdays Tractor kit worked well from about 5 years ago. Could NOT use the original
belt. Used one noted as a 25-201412 and puts the alternator about half way thru the stroke of the adjustment slot.

John, I did my NAA last year with a kit from Just 8n's. Everything fit perfectly. Are you using a new belt? Have you tried flipping the mounting bracket end for end?

That's what it looks like it needs. The kit came with a straight one. I am concerned that the alternator pulley sits a little ahead of where the old generator one was, not quite an inch. Thanks for the suggestion!

I was thinking of either getting a curved top bracket from chevy 350 or getting a different belt. Did the alternator pulley line up? Mine sits a little farther ahead (about 1/2 and inch) and I am concerned that it may wear the belt. My other thought was to get a universal bottom mount so the alternator can sit back a little and line up with the fan pulley.

erhaps just moving alternator mounting ears to other side of bracket ears?

My top bracket didn't come like that. It is just one piece with two L bends on one end. I have seen the bracket that you put in the picture and that might work.

Thanks

You can get aftermarket pulleys that are bit larger than the ones on stock alternators and improve the belt routing. I used one on my four cylinder 4000 that has a homemade conversion using a Ford alternator and it helped; not sure about the YT kit. I bought mine from Steiner; I don't see them here on YT.
