Rural King Batteries

Anybody got any comments on RK batteries? Needing 2 for my F-350. Used them on tractors and so far pretty good. Are their truck batteries pretty good also? Thanks.

There's only a few actual battery manufacturers around these days and the store brand ones are made by one or another of them. A quick Google search shows that the ones that Rural King sells are made by Exide, which is an OK brand. It looks like Rural King has a few different lines like most places and each line has a different warranty.

Thanks. Probably give them a try. 2 years is about all you get out of motorcraft and a bit higher.

Got 2 of their batteries in a 398 Massey, and 1 in a 98 Ranger....no problems so far.

And the price is right compared to everybody else.

The ones I put in cars and pickups have lasted pretty good, none the 4DLT's I purchased for my Ford tractors lasted 2 years and one only 14 months, went back to NAPA for my tractor batteries.

East Penn (Deka) makes the batteries for NAPA.

The battey that's in my 4500 when I bought it 3 years ago has a 4DLT battery from AutoZone (the tag was already kind of faded when I bought the tractor) as long as you start, and run the tractor once a week you don't have to jump start it! The Motorcraft battery that came in my dad's brand new 2006 F150 lasted almost 12 years!!!

For some reason it has become common belief that because there are only three battery manufacturers, that means there are only three different batteries out there and they just slap different labels on them. Thats not correct at all. All battery manufacturers make batteries to the specs they are directed and paid to make them. The best battery available can be made in the same building as the cheapest.

Back on topic, Ive had good luck with RK batteries.

Since I appear to have been the only person that mentioned the limited number of battery manufacturers so far in this thread, I assume your response was directed at me. I said "There's only a few actual battery manufacturers around these days". I did not give an exact number because I don't track it that closely. I also did not say that there are only 3 batteries with different labels slapped on them. In fact, I specifically said that RK sells multiple lines of batteries, all made by Exide, with differing warranties.

Back when I used to work for a large construction company I used to go get batteries all the time from a wholesaler. All the batteries that they had in the warehouse didn't have any decals on them. When I would go get one we got the Standard brand batteries, they would take the group size battery that you wanted, rolled it down a conveyor to where they had several boxes with different decals, and put the decal of whatever brand you bought. That place had Exide, NAPA, Mopar, Standard, Reliable, and a bunch of other decals of different "brands" of batteries.

As far as the price on the same size battery that had a Exide decal on it cost around $40 more than one that they put the Reliable decal on. Some pretty expensive decals!!!!!!
