Update on that 860 hydraulic problem

Please tell me what I'm missing. This morning I checked all that was suggested yesterday:
JMOR, the tranny oil level is perfect - no extra oil.
Shaun is right. I pulled the tranny cover & there's definitely a vent between the chambers. There is no trace of air bubbles when air is blown in.
Dipstick shows way over full, but no cylinders have been extended. So I screwed a valve into the port so I can shut off between tests & hooked that to a 3/8" clear tube, then put everything back together & pumped more air into the dipstick hole. I get a 5 or 6" stream of oil once in a while, but mostly a LOT of air. I have done this a LOT so should have pushed all air out of the lines & pump by now.
Again - What am I missing? There also is NO oil flow w/the engine running.

To prime the hydraulic pump that is air bound I have done both ways.

Engine has to be running. Hydraulic lever up.
A) Air pressure in hydraulic dipstick hole
B) Loosen the hex plug on top of the piston pump. Don't go past loosen, or your will have oil everywhere. Oil will seep out, a few bubbles then the plug will tighten up. Secure the plug.

A pump that looses prime has a bad seal on the shaft. My pump kept loosing prime and I traced it to the seal body was loose in the pump housing/body. I beded the seal in thread locker compound and all is well.

If you have the vane pump, all bets are off, get a piston pump.

Either the vane pump is not working at all, or the gear at the back of the cam that drives the pump is bad. If the gear at the back of the cam goes, it may not let the engine even run as it can lock up the cam. Is this a new tractor to you and the hydraulics never worked, or is this a tractor you are familiar with and the hydraulics quit working?

I recently bought this tractor not running. I did not hear it run until I rebuilt the engine. I was told all it needed was to replace the head gasket, & it even included a new head gasket!! So far I have rebuilt the engine starting w/new sleeves & pistons & replacing a cracked head. So I am totally unfamiliar w/it!

It looks like it is time to remove the hydraulic pump. Then verify that the drive gear is attached to the camshaft. If so, it is time for a piston pump,
which will also take a different hydraulic manifold, assuming there is presently a vane pump now on it. I guess there could be something mechanically wrong
with the vane pump. Wouldn't hurt to look, like a key sheered off.
