another steering question

SLLLOOOOOWly resurrecting a 1955 860. I have it to the point I can start and move it under power. It came equipped with a loader and power steering. The original steering pump was bad so I adapted a more modern auto pump in its place. The steering is still very stiff even with the loader removed. I will probably attempt to rebuild the original pump in case there is an output pressure difference. A few questions

1: is there a replacement available for the hold down for the filter inside the reservoir?

2: It appears to be the Eaton pump but I find no markings to prove this. Will I be safe in purchasing the Eaton style seal, o-ring kit?

3: Is there something else I need to check on the steering system that prevents the power assist working? I plan to crack lines to confirm fluid flow and I have jacked the front up and confirmed that the there is full lock to lock movement.

Thanks for any advice in moving the correct troubleshooting!

The hold downs are available from Ford/New Holland. Can you post a picture of your steering cylinder?Maybe I can help.See my post from last Saturday.Merry Christmas!

The power steering was very stiff on my 1841 too, almost like it
wasn't working at all at times, then once in a while it would turn.
It turned out to be broken springs in the valve mounted in the
steering column. They are still available, as is the filter hold down.

Not sure what your filter hold down looks like but I made a new one using a piece of stainless tig welding rod.. I can post a pic if you want.
