Top pic pop out plug. Change oil pump drive gear and install adapter. Bottom not changeable. Stuck useing generator.

Pull the soft plug out and you'll see the
oil pump drive gear. You need to replace
that with a new style gear that has the
square hole in the top that drives the tach
cable. Gear just pulls out.
Then you install the adapter which is
available from this site.

You will also need to replace the
tach/guage cluster as the new tach drives
turn the opposite direction.
You will also need to drill and retap for
the larger dia temp sender in the front of
the head as the elec values on the new
tachs are different.
If you go this route buy everything - gear,
drive, shorter cable, cluster for a
36/4600. They will be what you need.

If your diesel is a '68, I'd day the
block has been replaced at some point.
The soft plug didn't appear until '70 or
so.

If you want I can look, isn't there a stamp of where the year for the motor was made?

There should be a smaller casting code just below the large CxNN6015x casting number. That should be the date code for when the block was cast. Then there's a date code stamped into the flat rail on the right side of the block, down low, just above the oil pan. The middle of that rail has a taller section and the engine serial number should be stamped there, and to the right of the s/n there should be a date code for when the engine was assembled. That date code should match the "Engine" date code on the sticker under the hood if the sticker is still there and the engine is original to the tractor
