Ford 6410 Clutch/gearbox rattle

Hi, for some reason I could not get onto the ‘Todaystractor’ site. Is it
still running? Hope someone here can pass on some advice. We
have a 8-speed 6410 Gen-3. It has developed a quite disturbing
sometimes constant, sometimes random rattle in the clutch or front of
gearbox area. The noise is there with your foot off the pedal. When
you press the pedal the noise goes. Clutch operation feels
completely normal. First thought was the release bearing but that
does not tie in with what we have. Next was if it has a ‘sprung’ clutch
plate whether the springs are all loose. There is no sudden take-up
so all appears to be ok there. So what next? A bearing in the input
shaft into the box? Your thoughts will be much appreciated. Thanks
in advance. DavidP, South Wales

Be interested to hear the replies. I have 2 6610s that have done that since almost new. Only at low speed, in neutral, with clutch out. Dealer told me in late 90s was clutch rattle, normal, and to run them. -Still am. One had a new clutch put in and still does it. When in gear or clutch in, -no noise.

guessing its spring rattle in the clutch disk.. only does it at idle and its loud...

might be pilot bearing in flywheel though.
