4610 column shift no transmission oil level dipstick??

Hi,

I have just figured out the transmission on my 82 4610 is separate from the rear (don't believe everything you are told!).

I just changed the transmission input seals and some oil was drained as a result. But I cant find a dipstick or a bung on the side of the tunnel that looks roughly about the level. Very confused. Other than draining it all and then putting back the correct quantity I cant think of another solution.

Help much appreciated. Just cant find anyone who says they don't have a dipstick.

Thanks Blair

Well I have ⅛" pipe plugs on the side of the tranny housing about half way up the casting, right side on some tractors (thousand series) and long dipstick
on others (3910). If you take the cover off (for whatever reason) and look down into the gearbox, you see the top gears about half submerged. When
running, the gears sling oil all over the inside and everything gets lubed. So rule of thumb to me is half the casting height is full.

on a side note, I have found the dipstick down in the bottom of the trans as it had fallen out of the cap. fished it out with a magnet and drove it back into the cap and life was good.
