Fuel shutoff procedure

Im always sut the fuel off so as to allow the engine to burn all gasoline in the float bowl.

As the engine stalls, I pull the choke to try to get it all.

Only after the engnine stops do I turn off the ignition.

If you have an aftermarket valve, I recommend installing a second
valve and leaving the original open all the time. This is the third
new one I installed in mine. Opening and closing it cut the o-ring.
The fourth one isn't leaking so it will get left open and I will shut
it off at the second valve I installed in the line.
Otherwise, your choice. Are you shutting it down for storage or just
overnight? I don't bother to let them run out if I'll need them soon.
I might consider it if I was putting it in storage though.

I had the same experience with an aftermarket valve and wound up putting a new o-ring in my old valve and no problems since. A second valve would be a good idea. Thanks

49 8N, and 1964 4000.

Neither gets used much, so I shut the valve and let 'em run dry before killing the ignition.

They seem to start easier the next time I fire them up.
