I found a 62 Ford 801 Diesel with Select O Speed trans, power steering and power adjust wheels half dozen years ago that had been setting in a barn for 20+ years
Cleaned it up and got it running but have left it in original condition, mainly bought it for shows and tractor drives.

Well a few days ago a guy on a Ford tractor group on FB mentioned how he'd really love to have a 801 diesel SOS with power steering.
I decided to call him out and replied "How Bad" and included this photo.
He replied asking how much I wanted for it.
After some though because I didn't really want to sell it I threw out my "I don't want to sell it price"
He showed up yesterday with a envelope full of cash and a trailer.
All the time I'm thinking "that wasn't supposed to happen"
After he had it loaded I went into the house so I wouldn't see it leave.

If there's a bright side, now I have some money to restore the toasted 6600 row crop I picked up last year.

Nice 801. We enjoy them for a while and sometimes let someone else enjoy the tractor for a while. There's always new projects to find. I've got a 981 diesel that I need to let someone else have for a project. What's your goal with the new one?

Goal for the 6600 is to fix it up and add a turbo to use for a backup baler tractor and to pull our 15' batwing mower, it fits our cow/hay operation better and I presently only have one tractor big enough to handle the baler and mower.

Good for you. Selling at that "I don't care" price is not a bad thing.
You probably weren't looking for one when you found it, you won't miss it badly now it's gone.

And once again we see how FB can ruin some ones day!!!!

The 6600 will be a better investment. And now you have some funds for a nice winter project..

Gotta be careful throwing a price to
someone even if you think they won't bite.
But if they're happy to give your I don't
want to sell it price then you did good.

Not my favorite seat either but they must've sold a bunch of them at one time. I've got enough projects without the 981, so someone just as well get some use out of it.
