Hey folks, photos are here:
Only serial I have gotten so far is "Conn 60150" which I guess is the engine casting number. I cant go over and look closer for a serial until Friday, so thats a pain since I plan to start working on it Friday.
Once its running and the wheel is repaired I need function test it before I commit to buying.
[b:72601ea135]The Questions:[/b:72601ea135]
[list:72601ea135]
[*:72601ea135]Should I do any maintenance on the trans before I function test this tractor? I dont want to hurt anything by testing.
[*:72601ea135]If it goes into all gears should I assume the trans is [i:72601ea135]Fine[/i:72601ea135]?
[*:72601ea135]Im going to pull this across the pasture to my shop (less than 1/4 mile) Do I need to do anything other than put it in neutral before gently pulling it with the truck?
[*:72601ea135]Is neutral clearly labeled on the SoS shifter?
[*:72601ea135]What parts are no longer available for the SoS unit? (All the info I found was very old)
[*:72601ea135]Anywhere specific I should or should not hook a strap? (Both front and back)

[b:72601ea135]The History:[/b:72601ea135]
About 8 years ago the sellers 90 year old grandfather drove this tractor. It was used to mow the 10 acre property and drove itself into the shop. Because it had a habit of cranking slowly, his neighbor offered to convert it to 8 volt...
The conversation was never finished and the tractor hasn't moved from the spot since. Some time after the valve stem on one of the rear wheels started leaking fluid. (Looks like an easy fix with a welder)
Now in the photos I see what looks like an alternator. Seller's Grandpa is nearly 100 years old now so some of these details could be completely incorrect. I do not expect this to be difficult to solve.
[b:72601ea135]Me and my goals:[/b:72601ea135]
I am a fairly qualified home mechanic, with most of the tools I expect to need even if I had to split the tractor. I wouldnt be excited to do it, I have never done it, but I do feel confident that I could do it.
I have never owned a tractor. This would be for:
[list:72601ea135]
[*:72601ea135]unloading 700lb round bails
[*:72601ea135]mowing our 5 acres.
[*:72601ea135]Maintaining dirt/gravel driveway
[*:72601ea135]Moving rock and gravel.
[*:72601ea135]Down the road adding an auger[/list:u:72601ea135]
Thank you for reading, Im really excited to get started.
