Ford 420 loader tractor

Hi all I have a Ford 420 industrial loader tractor with a 3 pt hitch
The tractor has no rear weights other than the box scrape thats on it
My question is when using the loader it will not pick up much over 2000 pounds all the other tractors of that type I have seen will lift so much they pick the back of the tractor up mine dosent do that it just will not even try to pick it up
The tractor is in great shape for the age we are the second owners of it and it only has 1800 original hours on it
 
I'm not sure what the exact rating of that loader is, but it sounds like the maximum pressure that the system is achieving is too low. You can put a tee in the pressure line between the pump and control valve to add a gauge to check the pressure that it gets to when it won't lift any more weight. If it's low, like much under 2200 psi or so, then either the pump is getting weak or the pressure relief valve is opening too soon.
 
Did you check the loader's fluid level? But before you do that you should secure some weight for the back of your tractor. You can fill your tires, add a weight box, wheel weights but just get weight on it
before you try to lift anything heavy.
 
The fluid level is ok and the rear tires are fluid filled plus the weight of the box scrape on the back for a counter weight
Is 2200 psi the max pressure it will build

That's what tractordata claims. While the pump itself should be able to create more than 2200 psi (a pump in good condition should be able to create at least 2800 psi I would think), it is the relief valve that normally limits the maximum presure that can build in the system and it is usually set for around 2200 psi.
