Hi everybody, In the near future I going to start on an in frame overhaul on a 4630. Haven't opened it up yet so hoping it doesn't need to bored. Right now I'm looking at parts availablity. Serial #BD26000 Engine #3648062H21 Unit #2H24B. According to All States Ag Parts there was parts change in mid 1992. Looks like rod bearings are different? Anybody familiar with this and any other changes? What month was this tractor produced? Thanks in advance. MHG

H is for August, so your tractor was built on August 24, 1992.

Seems to me like Ford changed the way the crankshaft journals were machined at around that time, necessitating different main and rod bearings to match. A trip to the NH parts website to figure out the relevant date change left me so frustrated I almost threw a rock through my computer screen.

2nd that Bern. I sometimes think computer people are doing it on purpose so as to push OUR buttons. They might even be paid to do it. In a way they are as they keep improving something that works just fine.

Or, they're trying to discourage you and me from fixing our old stuff. All they're really doing is pushing us into the aftermarket for parts. I'm more than happy to oblige them.

Thanks Bern; According to ASAP catalog from 9/92-5/94 201 motors used "mains w/2 slots, thrust w/slot and hole". At this point just doing background research. Won't order parts until I can take it apart to see what's in there. Yes I hate the new NH website too, don't order many tractor parts, mostly hay machinery stuff. Thanks for the help MHG
