Quick Hitch Opinion

Neighbor asked me to check on a quick hitch for his 2000.
Told him I didn't know much about them, but I'm sure someone here has had some experience with them.
I'd like to get some input on them and their use from someone here, and if you've had good luck with one I'd like to know more about that one.

I'm not a fan of quick hitches because they move the weight of whatever is mounted further back.

Tried one on a 960. Most of my old implements would not connect w/the top point without some kind of fabrication. They are meant to connect by upward motion so the top link connection on the old implements needs to be moved ahead somehow. Ended up selling it for what I gave (fortunately!).

Had one on a Ferguson. Found that some implements fit, some did not. My fitment problems were the spacing of the lower pins on the implement. They were just a little too wide. Wished it would have worked, but was too troublesome. Like Lynn Patrick, sold it for what I paid.

I have quick hitches on two of my tractors. They are anything but quick. The top link is always an issue and modification is needed for almost every implement I have. I have one on my 641 and it has a box blade permanently attached. Dean is right that it moves the implement weight back some but that is just what I like on the tractor because of the FEL.

I use Pats. The 2000 would be Cat I. Flopping chains prevent them from optimum performance, but if you lift arm pivots are a bit rusty, it will help in
lining up the hooks prior to engaging the pins. The variable spacer bar should come with the hitches, not an extra cost extra like some market.

I have my 3rd pair for different tractors and chose Pat's because none of my implements are pinned out identically. Pats fits them all. For a guy working
alone, they are hard to beat....only thing better is extendable lift arms but in some cases Pats excel as they don't have to be extended far enough to
clear the tips of the lift pins. On chain stabilizers, that can make a difference if you have close hauled chains and don't want to have to disconnect a
chain every time you employ an implement.

Down side is the 3rd member usually has to be the longer style TSC sells...27" vs 24.5 as I recall) and the hitch extends the lift arm about 2". Believe it
or not, that 2" can have an effect on lifting heavy implements without front weights.

Absolutely agree with Hobo. Pat’s hitches are high-quality
American-made equipment and come with outstanding
customer support. At the top #1 or #2 things I’ve bought for
our tractors.

?? What kind of quick hitch? The upside-down U-shaped
ones? Those are a pain, btdt. But Pat’s is a different type
altogether.
