Okay, I'm stuck here too. I can't get the snap ring out that holds on the right pedal. Any tips on removing it? I'm not able to get a screw driver or anything else under it to pop it off.

I learned long ago that you need the right tool for the job. The first couple of times I removed snap rings with a screwdriver they flew away never to be found again. I now have several sets of snap ring pliers of various sizes.

As the others have said, you need a set of snap ring pliers.
Look in the tools section on Craigslist.
I got tired of the cheap ones I had and searched CL all over the country.
Found these used but like new in Pocatello, Idaho.
Paid $25 + $13 shipping.
Hi-Tech brand.
A superb tool. They came with a bunch of different tips and would last a couple of lifetimes even with heavy use.
Of course the first time I used them none of the tips were exactly right so I made a pair. I cut an allen wrench and ground the tips to fit.
Then bent them just so.
