NAA pivot pin

Is it “normal” for the front axle pivot pin to be frozen into the front end? I have removed the whole front end, cleaned and used PB blaster on it and it won’t move at all. Is heating it up my only option? I have beat on it enough that I’m afraid of bending or breaking the front end piece. Thanks in advance.

ounds liken it is doing its job real good....why do you not want to leave it be?

There are two different pin styles, is yours is the threaded style or straight pin style? Another possibility is maybe the pin had been welded in place if the support had been damaged in the past. Check the end of the pin closest to the radiator for weld.

It is the straight pin. I will look closer to see if it’s welded. I didn’t notice a weld while I was beating on it to try and remove it.

I have yet to have one hold tight against a spacer & a 20 pound sledge! I first block it up so as to not bend/break anything.

Took bolster to Chris’s farm service in Clinton Missouri and they had the pin out in 20 minutes. They used a torch and an air hammer. No way I would have got the pin out! They had the area around the pin red hot.

Mine was like that and I got a pin a little smaller diameter and blocked the support and beat it with a sledge hammer and it came out just fine.As long as the axle support is well blocked around the pin area you cant do much damage to it .
